Abstract
In this work an innovative research methodology for causality research, enabling an individual organization to investigate its performance in order to improve the implementation of its strategy, has been developed. The methodology combines a structured qualitative approach, whose role is to reveal the specific strategic framework of an individual organization, with quantitative methods meant to implement and validate it.
The generic strategic framework proposed here merges principles of well known frameworks such as the Balanced Scorecard, the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award and the European Foundation for Quality Management. It comprises four hierarchical levels: business goals, strategic priorities, relevant processes and organizational profile. The generic framework is then used to construct a hypothetical causality model for a specific organization. Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Mean Square Error (MSE), Fuzzy set Theory, Data mining and Statistical Process Control are the tools we selected to support the developed methodology.
